Estie was able to participate in the medical mission at the end of January. She hooked up with what is now the regular crew from the DR - Rush, Benito, Zina, and Exon Paul.
Other than a day or so of not feeling 100% everything went pretty well for her. The crew from the U.S. was a smaller than usual contingent and included a number of dentists this time. One of the organizers unfortunately became seriously ill. And although he was able to return home as scheduled, he was immediately admitted to their local hospital with severe flu-like symptoms and was thought to have dengue fever. Unfortunately it was difficult to diagnose the illness and he suffered for a number of days before he stabilized. I think they are still unsure as to exactly what bug he contracted but was going to need weeks to fully recover.
