After a week back, still have fond memories of our trip. Yet again, met more nice local residents - Benito, Zina, Rush, Umberto and his wife Maggie, and Peter - another Swiss neighbor.
Also successfully bought a cell phone ($25 for phone and 30 minutes air time that never expire if not used and no monthly cost) and visited an animal rescue center AAAS (http://www.aaasosua.com/) and met Kelly from Colorado and Judy - a Canadian ex-pat I think - who is doing a pretty great job running the place. And despite some less than proficient, although pleasant, experiences with using our Spanish, we continue to feel more and more comfortable about life there. And as always, the other guests at the B&B were fun to meet as well. One couple from NYC followed by one from Norway, and another from Belgium were all nice folks. Estie may be working locally in the next week or two and that will improve our chances of hitting our target/dream date to be there October 2014.
And with 6 inches of snow on the ground, and despite the brilliant sunshine and sparkling trees, we still want to be in the DR.
